Coinsurance

Some types of health insurance requires the insured to pay a portion of medical expenses beyond the deductible. A typical arrangement is a 20-80 policy: When the insured makes a claim for qualifying medical expenses and he has met his deductible, he is responsible to pay for 20% of the total bill while the insurance company covers the remaining 80%.
