Consumer Directed Health Care

A concept that includes several types of health insurance plans. The consumer (insured) purchases a health plan with a high deductible that will cover the most expensive medical procedures. This is supplemented with a tax-free savings account (or a Health Savings Account/HSA) and managed and controlled by the consumer. The consumer has more control over medical-related expenses, although there are some limitations.
